Eco Bus, Community Powered

Dear 多宝体育 Parents and Guardians,

Today I am delighted to share some exciting news: thanks to the generosity of our community, we have finalized the purchase of an electric bus (eBus) for our school. As many of you know, buying a bus has been our plan for over 2 years, and the project has admittedly taken a little longer than expected. Last spring, just as we were about to commit to a traditional gas-fuelled vehicle, a group of our high school students questioned if a fossil-fuelled bus was the best decision for a school committed to UNESCO ideals and global sustainability. Their advocacy prompted us to conduct a thorough business review on the feasibility of an electric bus. This report led us to conclude that an eBus is, in fact, a more advantageous option in terms of cost-efficiency, environmental impact, and long-term sustainability.

This significant fundraising effort was made possible through individual gifts from community members, proceeds from the Spring Benefit, and the remarkable support of the Jord student committee, coupled with a matching gift from the Albrecht family.

Aria, Alexander, and Isabel of the Jord Executive Committee voting unanimously to contribute all their funds towards the purchase of the eBus.

This accomplishment highlights an important contributor to our school’s success: the collective generosity of our community can directly enhance our student’s experience in ways that far exceed what can be done with tuition alone.

The eBus will provide an additional vehicle for smaller class field trips at all grades, allow our student service clubs, as well as debate and athletic teams, the opportunity to travel together and build camaraderie. Furthermore, an eBus produces zero tailpipe emissions and reduces our carbon footprint.

Our 2025 eBus will arrive in January, complete with a winter package; the extra few months' wait is well worth it for us to secure the latest model.
